The solar street lighting system provides automatically controlled street lighting, with each luminaire illuminating an area of over 100 feet in diameter. The lamps turn themselves on at dusk and off after 12 hours at dawn. The HID lamps are brighter than halogens and have an average lifespan of 12,000 hours!

The system comes equipped with:

• 3.5 m long structural aluminum lamp extension and comes with the solar panel mount.

• High efficiency 120 Wp monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic panel.

• Street lamps, which includes a 35W high pressure sodium lamp, inverter and 11 W PLCE lamp.

• Multifunction charge / discharge controller.

• 12 V deep cycle maintenance-free battery.

• Battery enclosure.

• Battery desulfator to prevent sulfation and extend the battery lifespan

Advantages:

• More cost-effective than having to dig trenches, bury power cables and install substations for conventional street lighting systems.

• Immune to blackouts and brownouts that may be experienced by the national grid network.

• Does not require manual switching of luminaries. The multifunction controller comes with 16 preset ON/OFF combinations.

• Very low maintenance (almost nil).

• Each luminaire is individually powered, meaning that a malfunction in one circuit would not cause an entire section of a street to be cast in darkness.

• Utilization of solar power means that fossil fuel is not required to be provide power. This means less carbon dioxide is released to the atmosphere, reducing the severity of the greenhouse effect.

• Low voltage (12 Vdc) is safer for public use than conventional 240 Vac systems.

Solar Requirement:

A minimum of 1 kW/m² of solar irradiance (approximately 5 hours of strong direct sunlight) is required to obtain 8 hours of a 3,500 lumens bright light (colour temperature of 4000^oK) and 4 hours of 600 lumens light (colour temperature 4500^oK).
