Powertank

Powertank Specifications

Pure Sine Wave - Maintenance Free - Long Backup Periods

HF1000S

The Powertank provides hours of uninterrupted power supply in the event of a blackout. Constructed out of extruded aluminium alloy, it is hardy, very intelligent, and maintenance-free. Backed up by years of research and development work, the Powertank has hundreds of satisfied users, including banks, the navy, major gaming agencies, clinics, and even households that want to be blackout-proof. Imagine being able to watch TV with lights and fans running while your neighbours are scrambling for candles in the dark and profusely fanning themselves. Imagine your business running as usual with everyone else around you screeched to a standstill the second their servers, computers, and lights shut down on them. Imagine no more! The Powertank is your solution.

The Powertank switches over automatically in the event of a power failure or power restoration. Unlike standby generators, the Powertank produces a clean, noise and emission-free output, providing comfort to end users. And, unlike a computer UPS, the Powertank is designed to give you HOURS of supply, allowing you to continue working, rather than just saving your work and twiddling your thumbs in heat and darkness after that. Also, the output of the S-Series pure sine wave Powertanks make it suitable for usage with any equipment within its capacity.

Blackouts: They Happen!

 New York plunged into darkness

A powerless Rome

No one is immune to blackouts. Even modern countries that pride themselves in efficiency suffer from them. In the last two years, the following countries were affected by at least one major blackout:

  • Singapore - June 2004

  • Italy, England,. Sweden & Denmark - September 2003

  • United States of America & Canada - August 2003

When a blackout occurs, domestic users suffer discomfort from insect irritation, heat and darkness. Aqua pets are endangered, as the air pumps stop. Automated gates won't open. All everyday activities stop. Commercial users on the other hand see their businesses stopped in its tracks as lights, computers, cash registers, communication equipment all cease to function. Alarms and other security equipment will no longer provide any sort of protection.

Multiple telephone lines, pagers, cellular telephones, e-mails provide us with an alternative means of communication should we fail to be contacted via one medium. Water tanks are built into houses and buildings should water supply be interrupted. But up till today, we do not have Powertanks. Why??

The Powertank: Not a Fuel Generator

Standby generators have always been used during blackouts. However, in the case of continuous usage, the following problems arise:

  • Standby generators need an auto kick-start as nobody may be tending to it. This means a tertiary power supply is needed to feed the starting mechanism of the generator. This is too expensive, and not practical.

  • Generators need fuel storage and being highly inflammable, are extremely dangerous.

  • Generators are high maintenance devices. Being motors, they have high wear and tear factor.

  • The exhaust fumes from generators are potentially deadly, and have been known to be lethal to occupants in an enclosed space.

Some Other Disadvantages of a Fuel Generator When Compared to a Powertank:

  • The running cost of a generator is much higher than that of a Powertank. It costs approximately RM 1.20 per hour to run a 1000 VA-rated generator. In comparison, the equivalent Powertank's running cost is less than RM 0.40 per hour.

  • The generator emits carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and sulfur dioxide. The Powertank is emission-free.

  • The Powertank is quiet compared to the noisy generator.

  • The Powertank switches automatically in the event of a blackout, and recharges itself when supply is resumed. The generator needs an external starting mechanism (sometimes, a person) and fuel needs to be topped up all the time.

The Powertank: Not a Computer UPS

The computer UPS, usually rated between 180 VA - 600VA, is not designed as a long-duration backup system. Instead, it is specifically made to give you just enough time to save your files. The Powertank on the other hand not only allows work to carry on for hours, but will also back up the lights and fans at your workplace to ensure a comfortable working environment during blackouts. The output of the computer UPS is usually not a sine wave. This means, should you use it to back up sensitive equipment, it would damage the equipment that was connected to it. For example, if a table fan was connected to the output of a computer UPS, you will hear a whirring sound by the motor. This is due to the high harmonics content of the computer UPS's output. The output of a pure sine wave Powertank contains very low harmonics, at times lower than that of the incoming supply. Hence, you can be assured that your equipment will not suffer any damage due to incoming supply.
